Solar Grade Poly Silicon
Designed specifically to meet the needs of the solar industry, our solar silicon can help PV module manufacturers reduce costs while continuing to meet stringent customer performance expectations. Highland's solar silicon is a compelling alternative to costly electronic-grade (EG) silicon produced through the Siemens process or with fluidized bed reactor technology.

- Achieves in-line PV cell conversion efficiencies and module performance on par with cells/modules produced using primarily EG silicon
- Provides ingot, cell and module manufacturers with an alternative source for cost effective silicon which may improve margins
- Can be used as a drop-in replacement for EG silicon, or as part of a blend
Our solar silicon already powers more than 20 million PV cells worldwide, and modules created with our solar silicon have earned certifications from UL, IEC and TÜV Rheinland.
Highland material has also demonstrated exceptional performance at a number of module testing sites, including the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s headquarters and a facility in Sunnyvale, California.
Anode Material
Silicon anode batteries are an extension of widely used lithium ion (Li-on) batteries. Next generation Li-ion batteries will make use of silicon anodes that utilize silicon nanotubes, or a comparable process which will result in a significantly higher energy storage capacity and longer battery life. Highland Materials silicon has already been successfully sampled and tested to silicon anode battery manufactures.
